More Crosstabs About the 12-17 Group, White/Nonwhite by Gender

In continuing to explore this dataset, I thought I would run some more crosstabs. Crosstabs are useful in that it gives you a breakdown of a how different kinds of people answered different kinds of questions. For example, in the previous post, I broke down type of game by gender. I am unsatisfied with this particular breakdown simply because, while it is a good beginning point, it does not really break things down into greater detail...which is what I would like to do. So, this exploration of this dataset is going to break ethnicity (in this case, white vs nonwhite for reasons I will not get into here) and will layer it by gender. Meaning, it will calculate responses based first on ethnicity and then separately by gender. You will see what I mean below.

An interesting point to make (as Simon Ferrari of http://rulesofthega.me/ and http://simonferrari.com/ points out is that of rhythm games. Overwhelming white player support makes the relationship between games and gender and ethnicity significant. However, within the data, nonwhite support of the games is evident in nonsignificant numbers.

Other points of note:

• Nonwhite male groups seemed to enjoy survival horror games than white males while in female groups, both whites and non-whites overwhelmingly dislike them.
  
  
• The 12-17 group as a whole does not visit virtual worlds nor do they play MMOs.
  
  
• In Role-playing games, all groups lean more toward not playing them than do.
  
  
• Sports games (this includes Tony Hawk) are also mostly primarily loved by both groups and genders.
  
  
• In simulation games, nonwhite males do not typically play them while all other groups are almost split exactly down the middle.
